Ever since he was 7 years old, Dr. Cowell knew he wanted to become a dentist. He always enjoyed his regular visits to the dental office and loved how it was a career that combined science and creativity. After graduating from Stetson University as a biology major, he earned his dental doctorate from the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
Over the last 23 years, Dr. Cowell has gained extensive experience. This includes working with geriatric patients at the nursing home and providing family, restorative, and cosmetic services. Currently, he is a proud member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists. By staying active in these organizations, he is able to stay up to date with the latest innovations in dentistry and expand his clinical skillset.
When he isn’t busy treating patients, you will find Dr. Cowell hiking, swimming, canoeing/kayaking, biking, or spending time at the beach. He also loves traveling to new places and singing with his church choir.

You’ll first want to define what you’re looking for. This means asking yourself what is most important when it comes to choosing a dental practice. You may find that you care more about certain aspects than others, but it can help to create a list of your must-haves. For example, you may want to think about:
Once you establish your criteria, you can begin to narrow your search. The next step is to select a few practices to “try out.” This may require calling and speaking to a team member or scheduling an appointment. This will allow you to get a feel for the practice as well as the staff and determine what kind of service and care they provide.
It is also helpful to read reviews and bios to learn more about the dentist and team members while also discovering more about the experiences of others.
When looking for a dentist near DeBary, you can expect there to be between 10-15 experts to choose from. While there are certainly other options available, you won’t find another practice quite like ours. Dr. Cowell and our team deliver a different type of dentistry, one that promotes transparency, honesty, and no upselling.
We don’t believe in trying to push services that are not necessary. Instead, we listen to your needs and discuss the various ways we can help you meet your smile goals. A partnership is what we offer, and we will build your treatment plan with your needs, desires, and budget in mind. Before any kind of service is administered, we will check with you to ensure you are confident moving forward.
Various factors can determine the exact cost of having a tooth pulled, such as the location of the dental office, the expertise of the dentist, and the type of tooth that needs to be removed.
On average, though, tooth extraction can cost between $150 and $400. There may be additional fees that include sedation (if required), other dental services (i.e., gum disease treatment, bone grafting), or whether it is a simple or surgical procedure.
If you are without dental insurance, our dental practice near DeBary is pleased to offer access to flexible payment plans through CareCredit. With multiple options to choose from that contain low or no interest, you can avoid any prepayment penalties as well as surprises when choosing to pay off your extraction over time.
Prevention is essential if you want to keep your out-of-pocket costs low. Choosing to forgo regular dental exams and cleanings because you believe you can’t afford the visits will only cause you to experience more serious oral health problems in the future – ones that often come with great expense.
Dental insurance is the most effective way to get the care you need without having to reach deep into your pockets. If you have it, use it. Otherwise, ask your dentist about alternative payment options, like flexible financing.
Many offices, including ours, partner with third-party financiers, like CareCredit. This makes it easier for you to move forward with treatment and keep your bank account from taking a substantial hit.
